Shantell Martin x Joya

 

Shantell Martin’s drawing and large scale artworks call attention to our everyday intuitions. Verbal cues or call outs become enigmatic questions to sit with. This approach matches Joya's dynamic interests with scent. Our finest fragrances and wax sculptures constantly try to interpret and reinterpret the ordinary to vaulted status. 

Together,  Shantell and Joya have collaborated on scented products that bring attention to the passage of time. The themes are focus, everyday hours and minutes spent, and the ways in which an artist chooses to spend their time. Developed with Shantell’s input, Joya scent selections (with notes of shaded green tea, ocean air, heliotrope petals, vanilla flower and more) are meant to enhance these timely motifs! 

Classic candle glass votives are screen printed and feature original artwork drawn and handwritten by Shantell herself. These vessels contain two layers and scents are meant to be priced accessibly so that everyday artists can experience our waxed work! 

We are also releasing a special edition XL three-wick candle. The vessels are handmade in our ceramic studio and are made of cast porcelain. The vessels feature original artwork by Shantell –hand-painted using multiple tools, techniques and textures, vertically at our studio. Each contains different accents of 22k white gold, reflecting the uniqueness of every piece.

Each limited edition porcelain vessel contains an even more complex layered wax process that allows for two different scents to activate together while burning–twice. Each distinctive scent is released after a specific lapse of time and helps to indicate a specific mark of time.
